 MEET JOHN 

John grew up on Broadway Street in Joliet. After graduating from Joliet Catholic Academy in 1988, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree from the University of Illinois.

 

In 1997 he joined the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor. Over the next 20 years, John became the Major Crimes Chief at the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he oversaw high profile cases and effectively leveraged his experience with computer forensic evidence as both a local prosecutor and an Assistant Attorney General in the High Tech Crimes Bureau.

Since joining the Illinois General Assembly as the Representative of the 85th House district, John has sponsored and passed laws on government transparency, technology capital investment, legislation to advance DNA identification techniques,and updates to orders of protection procedures to help victims.

 

John has also voted to pass budgets that help Illinois stabilize its fiscal situation and begin to pay the backlog of bills which are still costing Illinois millions of dollars in interest.

John currently serves on the General Services, Higher Education, Judicial - Criminal, and Labor and Transportation Committees, where he oversees spending of tax dollars by state agencies and public universities, is able to contribute his experience to criminal justice reform, criminal law updates, and probation and parole revisions, and interacts on issues such as wage theft, nurse staffing, DUI license suspensions, and more.

He and his wife, Julie, live in Lockport with their three sons, Colin, Jack and Charlie, and their Golden Retriever, Circe.
